Christmas was GREAT this year! My mom and dad came down to Arkansas to spend the holiday with us. It was so much fun. They arrived on Saturday night around 8:45. It took exactly 13 hours including stops! On Sunday we spent the day visiting and playing games. We had decided to sleep in Sunday morning since mom and dad were exhausted. Our church was having a candlelight service on Sunday afternoon so we attended that instead of morning services. It was wonderful and really helped to remind us of all that Christ has done for us. After service we went to Harding University and looked at the beautiful light display. They have over 40,000 LED lights draped from the trees on the front lawn. It was like being in an ice palace! At home we enjoyed some snacks for Christmas Eve dinner. We had Shrimp and cocktail sauce, mini pigs in a blanket, fried chicken wings, a gourmet cheese platter, cookies and my mom’s famous (well not really, but it should be) Christmas Punch. On Christmas morning Richie’s mom joined us and we spent the morning opening presents and eating my dad’s traditional Christmas Morning breakfast of bacon, toast, eggs and home-fries. Again we played games, watched movies and played with our “toys”. Later in the afternoon we had a nice dinner of Prime Rib, Asparagus, Twice Baked Potatoes, Corn and Kathy’s(Richie’s mom) dinner rolls! It was so yummy. Mom and Dad had to leave early on Wednesday to make a quick stop over at my sister’s house in Nashville before heading back to their Bed and Breakfast (www.orchardhousebb.com) to prepare for guest that would arrive on Thursday night. I am so glad we got to spend time together.
