A friend recently taught me about Charted (not filet) Crochet. Apparently it is really popular in Europe and Japan. We decided to do a crochet-a-long and make a series of doilies. This sort of frightened me at first becuase doilies are so dainty and I didn’t think I could ever do it. Debi emailed me a pattern, answered my questions and amazingly I found it to be quite easy! I was working with a tiny hook and tiny thread so it took quite a bit of time to do. My finished doily measures about 12 inches across. I kind of imagined myself as a pioneer girl sitting in my cabin during the long winter and making things for my hope chest. It was really fun! Thanks Debi for teaching me! Here is my finished work:

Beautiful!!

I love this, and you did so well. I am very proud of you.
You did a beautiful job!
Julie, you did a fantastic job…when I discovered the crochet charts I got very excited since I’m so visual…that’s all I worked from for a long time but haven’t done any for a while now..I’m left handed so I have to reverse the direction which can mess with my mind for a bit..LOL
I’ve been crocheting for 16 years now and it’s always the artform that I come back to. There’s just no limit to what you can create with thread and yarn and other fibers.
I’m so proud of you and your accomplishment..you’ve learned very quickly!!
Hugs…
Julie,
That is just beautiful. Great job!!
Gorgeous! Crochet is next on my list to learn. I tried once before, but I didn’t get very far.
