Here are my answers:

  • Do you have a favorite gift that you love to give? I love giving anything handmade! Every year I give all the administration and staff at the school where I teach something homemade! I love the looks on their faces when the say ” You MADE this?” in disbelief!
  • If you’re making gifts this year, what are you making? I am making lots of gifts this year but you will have to wait on some of the photos until after the new year! Don’t want to spoil the surprise! Here’s a few things I can show:

  • Do you have any good stories about handcrafted gifts you’ve given or received?
I just finished a great handmade gift swap with some of the girls over at Mary Janes Farm.  I got so many wonderful handmade ornaments and gifts.

  • Do you have any great gift compilation ideas (a grouping of gifts just perfect for certain recipients?) I like a collection of handmade soaps with some handmade candles, washcloths and herbal teas. A relaxation gift basket!
  • Name one thing on your personal wish list. I’d really like my husband to give me a really nice, long massage for Christmas!
  • Do you make and sell things that would make fantastic gifts? I have an etsy shop that I think has some really cute stuff.  I’ve sold several things lately and haven’t had much time so my inventory is kind of low but there are still some adorable things! http://willowartist.etsy.com

Traditions

  • What is your favorite family holiday tradition? As a kid my sister and I would wait on the stair christmas morning while mom and dad “made sure Santa had taken care of everything”. We would wait in anticipation until we heard dad call “okay girls” and we would RUN down the stairs. We did this every year even into our college years!  My sister has a little boy now so maybe the tradition can pass on to him!
  • Have you started any new traditions with your family that you didn’t practice growing up? I’ve started putting up the tree at Midnight on Thanksgiving.  Also going to see the lights at Berryhill park in Searcy is something we always try to do.
  • What do you love most about the holiday season? I love the lights on the tree! At christmas, sometimes the holiday lights are the only ones we have on in our house. It is soooo romantic!
  • What do you like least about the holiday season? The commercialization of the holiday.
  • Anyone close to your heart that you’ll be missing this year? All my loved ones that have passed on or will be too far away to share the holiday with.
  • What is your favorite holiday food? It doesn’t seem like Christmas to me with out my mom’s Christmas Punch. It always gives me a tummy ache but it just wouldn’t be Christmas without it!
  • Do you have a great recipe to share? Here is my mom’s recipe for Christmas Punch!

Christmas Punch

1 lg. plastic jug of Hawaiian Punch
1 lg. can of Pineapple Juice
1 can of frozen lemonade (pink or yellow)
1 Bottle of Ginger ale
Sliced Citrus Fruit
Ice Ring

Mix together all ingredients in a punch bowl. Add ice ring and float slices of fruit.  For an added kick, Adults can add a splash of rum to their glass before pouring the punch!  Save the Hawaiian Punch jug as it makes a great place to store the leftovers.  Refrigerate any leftovers.
